If you have not used the Tell Us Once service you will need to write to the DVLA to tell them a driver has died.

You will need to include the deceased’s driving licence with your letter, if you have it but not the death certificate. Your letter must include the following details:

  • Your relationship to the person who has died
  • The date they died
  • Their name, address and date of birth

The letter will need to be sent to:
